The Head Football Coach is responsible for the management and administration of all phases of the varsity intercollegiate football program and team, within the guidelines, rules and regulations of the University, Southwestern Athletic Conference and the NCAA.
Essential Functions:
- Recruit, mentor, and develop student-athletes in all areas.
- Develop and organize of team practices.
- Recruit, hire and manage assistant coaches and support staff, including conducting annual evaluations of each staff member.
- Coordinate team travel logistics and itinerary with assistant coaches and support staff.
- Represent the University in compliance with NCAA policy in the recruitment of student-athletes.
- Recommend athletic scholarships to prospective student-athletes in compliance with NCAA policy.
- Collaborate with academic staff to promote a culture of academic success and individual achievement for student-athletes.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the football program, engaging with media, donors, campus partners, student body, alumni, and sponsors.
- Coordinate with appropriate administrators on recruitment and hiring of assistant coaches and support staff, budget development and allocation, fundraising, scheduling of opponents, awarding of athletic scholarships, athletic training for maintenance and rehabilitation, matters pertaining to eligibility, student-athletic mental health and wellness, and strength and conditioning.
- Oversee facility and equipment management, including recommendations for purchases.
- Collaborate with athletic training staff on maintenance and rehabilitation, strength and conditioning training, and student-athlete mental health and wellness.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, athletic administration, faculty, and other stakeholders.

- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
- Ability to manage budgeting, scheduling, coaching, recruiting, evaluating, and equipment care.
- Excellence in written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle and prioritize various tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to engage stakeholders on social media.
- Must be able to work a highly variable schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, with the ability to pass the NCAA recruiting exam.
- Preferred connections and strong ability to recruit locally.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of coaching experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience as a Football coach at the Division I, II, or III collegiate level is preferred. Head Coach experience from other division levels may be considered.
- Experience recruiting student-athletes and managing administrative tasks related to college-level team sports.
